Hello Parents,

Happy Friday! The sun is out. The snow is melting and it is finally getting warm out! Yay! We are so excited that the temperatures are rising because that means we can go outside and play in our playground. We had a fun week in preschool! We did a lot of cool science experiments, one of which included shaving cream and water. Check out our pictures online to see what we did! This week was also the start of Lent. Each child made prayer hands and named 10 people they would like to pray for. These prayer hands will be placed on our prayer table and each day we will pray for someone new.

Next week is the start of a new month! During the month of March we will be focusing on the sense of touch, St. Patrick's Day, Dr. Seuss, Lent, and Spring! Our first in school field trip is coming up on March 2nd. Your children will make a Dr. Seuss lovey with their buddies. We will also read Dr. Seuss books and try yummy green eggs and ham (preschool style) :)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Parents,

Happy Friday! We had a fun week here in preschool. We talked more about God, love, and friendship. We also focused a little more on our phonics. We are getting better at identifying the letters in our name. We made a heart wreath with our name on it. Each heart had a different letter and we had to put the letters in order so it spells our name out. We had a lot of fun doing that. We also did a fun science experiment with glue and skittles. We put glue on a plate and then put skittles all around in a circle. Some of us thought that the glue would dry out and some of us thought that the skittles would just drop to the bottom of the plate and nothing would happen. What really happened is... all the colors mixed and it looked like a rainbow!

A couple of reminders..
* Please turn in your child's field trip permission slips along with the $8.
*Tuesday we will be celebrating Mardi Gras.
*Wednesday we will be going to church for Ash Wednesday.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Parents,

Happy Friday! We had a very fun and exciting week. We started the week off by learning about Veterans Day. We read the story Peppers Purple Heart and then painted an American Flag. We now know that our flag consists of the colors red, white, and blue. This week we also made our Family Turkeys! Thank you all so much for taking the time to trace everyone's hand at home! Your children loved putting their family turkey together and telling me who each handprint belongs to in their family. Additionally, this week our buddies came to our classroom to do a fun craft and spend some time with us. We made snowflakes using coffee filters and eye droppers. Each snowflake is unique and special just like us.

Hello Parents,

We had a fun and exciting week at school! We are only one week away from Halloween and we cannot wait. As we count down the days, we have been reading some spooky books and we have worked on some spooky crafts. We went out of our comfort zone and painted our feet for the first time!! The paintbrush tickled our feet, but we did it! We also created our own ghosts...they are  S P O O K Y. If you happen to be at school, try to find us under the spooky ghosts out in the hallway. Furthermore, this week we focused on the letter 'H'. Some things that help us remember this letter are horses, hot dogs, hats, hearts, and our favorite... happy! :) We have made many memories so far in our classroom and have been opening up more and more. We aren't so shy anymore because now we know all of our friends and their names.

Next week will be another exciting week!!
Tuesday- Milana's Birthday! (No mass. We will have mass November 1st, All Saints Day)
Wednesday- Halloween Craft with our Buddies

Hello Parents!

Happy Friday! Spirit Week was a success!!! We had so much fun this week & did lots of learning!

As we continue working on our phonics, our brains are growing more and more! This week we focused on the letter 'G'. We remember this letter because 'G' is for ... glitter and the color green! The letter G seems to be one of our favorite letters in the alphabet because we were able to think of 25 words that start with the letter G all by ourselves! This week we also worked on a lot of crafty projects that have to do with the month of October and Halloween! We made creepy spiders using our hands! We know that spiders have 8 legs and 8 eyes too! They may be smaller than us, but they definitely have more legs and eyes...creepy! We also read many spooky books including: Click, Clack, Boo!, A Beasty Story, and Itsy Bitsy Spider!  Some of our favorite songs are the 'Itsy Bitsy Spider' and '5 Little Pumpkins'.

As the weather gets colder we are learning every day how to put our jackets on and how to zip them! We are preparing for the cold winter days.

Some important dates to remember...
Monday- Crazy Hair Day
Tuesday- Mass with our Buddies

** Don't forget to check out our cute pictures in our October photo album.

Have an amazing and relaxing weekend!

Hello Parents,

We had such an exciting week!!! We celebrated Evelyn's birthday on Wednesday and Mrs. Philbin's birthday today. Check out all the cute pictures in our October album!

This week we read the story Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss. After reading this story, we counted how many letters we have in our names and stacked that many apples on top of our heads! Silly right? We also made really cool stained glass apples. We know that apples come in a variety of colors and grow on trees. Green apples seem to be our favorite! On top of all the other exciting things we did, we focused on the letter 'E' and made some cute elephants! As the weeks go by, we are getting better and better at holding a crayon/marker and writing!

Next week will be a shorter week. Some things to remember!!

Tuesday (10/8)- Mass with our buddies
Thursday (10/10)- Early Dismissal at 11:30
Friday (10/11)- No School, Teacher in Service Day

Hello Parents,

Happy Friday! What an exciting week it has been in our classroom! We have been having so much fun. We have a new friend in our classroom....Squishy! Squishy is our pet fish. He swims around in his fish tank while we do some learning and have some fun.

This week we focused on the letter 'D'. Each day we would work together to think of as many words as we can with that letter. Our favorite words are: doggie, daddy, doctor, door, dress, and doll. We beat our goal each day! Our brains are growing and growing. Learning is so fun. This week we also said goodbye to summer and said hello to fall. We now know why some people refer to this season as 'autumn' and why some refer to it as 'fall'. We got creative and made our own leaves. Lastly, we learned about firefighters, doctors, and dentists. We sang  "I'm a little firefighter", created our very own fire trucks, and read many stories on fire trucks. We also had the opportunity to paint with toothbrushes after reading some stories about what doctors and dentists do. We now know that it is very important to brush our teeth twice a day and drink as much water as possible throughout the day.

**Today is the Crusader Team Challenge!!! I hope to see you all tonight. If you have any questions, please email me at akijowska@stnorbertschool.org

Thank you,

Hello Parents,

I want to start off by thanking each and every one of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to come to Back to School Night. It was my pleasure seeing you all again and sharing with you the space that your children spend a lot of time in.

This week we continued working on our phonics and specifically focused on the letter 'B'. We also read a cute story, Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems. After reading this story, students created a cute craft to go along with it. Additionally, we finished our All About Me books. They turned out very cute as many of you have seen last night. Along with learning comes a lot of fun! We had lots of fun playing with shaving cream and creating slime! We got messy, sticky, but it was the best time ever. Through this experience, we learned about our senses.

As the seasons are changing, so is the theme of our classroom! Next week we will learn about the different seasons and the changes we will be experiencing outside. We will read the story about the Three Little Bears. Please make sure your child brings a teddy bear to school on Tuesday September 17th to go along with this story! Along with this story, we will learn about the different types of apples that grow in the fall and we will try some! Lastly, we will continue our phonics and focus on the letter 'C'.

Important dates to keep in mind...
Picture Day- September 18th
Mass with our Buddies- September 24th

Hello Parents,

Happy Friday! We just experienced our second week of preschool! Time is flying by so quickly. We had a very busy and exciting week. We've learned so much and we have built many strong friendships.

We started off  our week by learning the letter 'A'. We practiced writing the letter A and identified things that start with that letter. We also learned a little more about ourselves while working on our 'All About Me' projects. We now know that we are bigger than a crayon, but smaller than a giraffe! Additionally, we did a fun project with our buddies! Yes! We finally met our buddies and we are so excited. Our buddies helped us learn more about the things God has created for us. We did a fun project that is now hanging outside in the hallway.

Next week we will focus on letters 'B' and 'C'. We will read one of the most well known fairytales, Goldilocks and the Three Little Bears. We will learn a new song and do a scavenger hunt around the school to find Goldilocks. We will also make our very own self portraits, create Noah's big boat (religion theme), and learn about what objects sink or float. We have a very exciting week coming up!

Hello Parents,

Happy Friday! What a fun, exciting, and memorable week it has been for everyone! It has been a pleasure getting to know every one of your children and getting to meet all of you! I am so lucky and thankful to be teaching in such a wonderful community surrounded by so many caring, loving, and helpful individuals.

This week was all about getting to know one another and making new friends! We took our first day of preschool pictures so we never forget this special moment in our lives. We started off the week by reading The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. After reading this story and talking about our "secret", we painted our hands and made our very own 'kissing hand'. Additionally, we visited many new places. We went on a scavenger hunt to find our safari friends around the school. We now know where the bathroom is and where our specials are! In fact, we went to one of our specials this week, gym!

Next week, we will begin working on our phonics. We will start off by learning the letter 'A'. Additionally, we will start working on our 'All About Me' books. Although more learning will take place next week, we will still continue to have fun! Our buddies will come visit us and we will do a fun craft together!

Hello Parents,

Thank you all so much for all the thoughtful and generous gifts. I feel extremely loved this holiday season. I am truly blessed to be able to teach all your children and that is truly the greatest gift of all!

This month our main focus was learning about God's creation and celebrating the birth of Jesus. We created many crafts to help us understand our faith and read many bible stories. Yesterday we had our Christmas Party and celebrated Jesus's birthday by singing to baby Jesus and blowing candles. We all know that Jesus loves us very much and holds a special place in our heart. We also know that each of us has an angel, just like Jesus, that watches over us and protects us.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a restful holiday season and get to spend time with your loved ones. Happy New Year! I wish for you all to be healthy and happy in the new year.

-Ms. Kijowska
