We read the stories, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? and We're Going on a Bear Hunt and sequenced the events in the stories. We used our watercolor paints to paint our owls and had fun sponge painting our brown bears.

We started our Seeds Religion Program this week. The first lesson was about Jesus welcoming the children. We learned that Jesus loves everyone and welcomes everyone. He wants us to love and welcome everyone too.

We learned all about the letter B. We used our pointer fingers to draw uppercase and lowercase B in the air. We practiced tracing letter B with the colors of the rainbow.

We learned the following rhyme to help us trace number 1 - Number 1 is like a stick a straight line that's really quick!

Week of September 11

This weeks theme was all about apples! We read books on apples and learned about the parts of an apple (skin, core, seeds, stem, and leaf). We created our apple craft to hang up in our preschool hall! We learned about the different kinds of apples and all the things that we can make with them. We enjoyed having a taste test with the following three apples: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith. We made a graph and discovered that Red Delicious and Granny Smith were both our class favorites! We have started practicing saying the Johnny Appleseed Prayer.

We also read the story, Emily's Magical Words: Please, Thank You, and More and have been discussing when we use these magical words. We created top hats and added our magical words to them.

We learned all about the letter A. We used our pointer fingers to draw uppercase and lowercase A in the air. We started practicing tracing letter A with the colors of the rainbow.

We learned the following rhyme to help us trace number 0 - Around, and around, and around we go, when we get home we have a zero!

Week of September 4

Our preschoolers have done such a great job in their second week of preschool! We reviewed our classroom rules and are doing great picking up on classroom routines.

We are so proud of our littles for being quick and quiet during our first Fire Drill! We learned that a Drill is a way for us to practice being safe.

We had Fun singing along to There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books and practiced retelling the story.

We have also enjoyed reading Five Green and Speckled Frogs and practiced counting and singing!

We read, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? and learned that everyone carries an invisible bucket. When we are kind and use our helping hands and kind words we make others feel better and that fills their buckets. We talked about ways that we can be bucket fillers and put our stars with our names in our classroom as a promise to continue to be bucket fillers throughout this year.

We have also been doing a great job practicing praying before snack and lunch. We are currently practicing the Giving Thanks prayer. Check out our Preschool Prayers tab for all the prayers that we will be practicing throughout this year!

Week of August 28

We had a great first week of school! We are so proud of our preschoolers for doing such an awesome job getting into school routine. We read The Kissing Hand, a story about a racoon who is sad to leave his mom and go to school. We learned that sometimes we can feel sad and we discovered the secret of the kissing hand and how it can help us when we feel sad and miss our loved ones.

We played Hickety Pickety Bumble Bee and have been practicing learning each others names. We also read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and had fun stamping the letters in our names on our trees!

We went over Classroom Rules and read the story, No,David! We thought of some school rules that we would teach David to follow.

We loved presenting our All About Me Bags and learning all about our friends. If your child hasn't brought their bag yet, please send it in with them next week to share with the class.

Next Thursday will be our first Fire Drill. Sometimes drills can cause anxiety for our littles and it helps to talk about it ahead of time. I will be explaining that drill means practice and that practicing helps us stay safe. To ease any anxiety, I encourage you to discuss this with your child at home as well. Thank you for your help in this!
