HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Welcome back to school!! I'm not sure who was happier to see who; the children to see me or me to see the children.  I think I won :)
What a very busy month of December the children had; between learning about the true meaning of Christmas, understanding why Santa brings them a gift, to practicing for our school Christmas show.  Experiencing the joy of giving, by bringing in new mittens/gloves for a poor child who has none.  Spending time with their buddies exchanging gifts as well as enjoying a bit of holiday cheer.  Attending a marionette showing and finally the big event; A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS!"
I am so hopeful that the true meaning of Christmas that they experinced this month remains in their hearts for many, many years to come!!!
If you can, check out my media gallery where I have posted pictures of some of these events.

With the beginning of the new year, the children will now be attending mass with their buddies at church; the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.  If you are available, it is one of the sweetest sites to behold; the eighth grader keeping your child engaged as well as your child looking up at their buddies with so much joy and happiness.
This week we started our unit on the Artic; the children understand what a thermometer is and how it works.  They have made artic homes(Igloo) out of marshmallows and learned how to walk like a Penguin and helped the wise-men and shepherd's find their way to see baby Jesus!

November 2nd,
What a couple of weeks we have had getting ready for Halloween; the children's imagination has been on hyper-drive.
On Mummy day, we dressed the children up as mummy's with toilet paper, however the children had a much better idea for the toilet paper:).
Northbrook Firemen along with two firetrucks came to school to talk about "fire safety" as well as get a tour of their firetrucks.  The children were beyond excited.
We entered the school's "pumpkin decorating" contest.  Our entry was a "mommy mummy."  We did not win, but boy did we have fun creating it.
The children heard the bible story of "Baby Moses", and just like God did, they did a great job hiding the baby.  Project to come home shortly.
We wrapped up the month with the Halloween Party!  The children were way too cute to be scary!!
Don't forget to check out the media page for some of the highlights.

October 9th,
The month of September was a very busy month with the children.  They heard the bible story of Noah's Ark and then created their own ark taking care to make sure that two of each animal made it on to the ark.
We talked about some of the various jobs that are around the community in which they live and the importance of each job.  With that said, they had their first "fire drill" at school.
The month of OctoOn ber is off to a great start. We will discuss pets, changes outside and apples.
Today we learned about Christopher Columbus and how important his job was.  If it weren't for him finding Northbrook, where would we all be?

This week the children had a tour of our school; they met their music teacher Mrs. Gaul as well as their gym teacher Mr. B.  They worked together to create a list of "do's and don'ts" for our class.  They heard the story of Chester the Racoon (The Kissing Hand )who had his first day at school and feeling a bit unsure.
We talked about our family's and made a family tree with everyone in their family.  We will continue our focus on families, not just the one's we go home to everyday, but the new family we have here at St. Norbert Preschool.
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT AND CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS OF THE WEEK!

September 7th,
This past week the children finished up their "ALL ABOUT ME" project and are very eager to share it with you.  We talk about their Grandparents and the children recalled special moments with them as well as drew a picture of the two of them.
They were introduced to the letter "B" and by the end of the week were able to produce 30 words that begin with the B sound (hints to the words were given) :)
The children had their first sensory art project: finger painting with shaving cream. Which they ALL throughly enjoyed!  The room smelt so good that day!!
Finally, we had a first "fire drill."  The children did very well during the drill and were able to express their thoughts on what would you do if their was a fire.  Don't be surprised if they ask you to do one at home!!!
Please check out our photo album to see some of what your child experienced this week!!
