6th Grade Language Arts
This year in 6th grade Language Arts we are going to dive into the world of American Literature! We will be reading three novels, plus short stories, and informative articles. Throughout the year, we will also focusing on analyzing literature through writing, debates and discussions, as well as creative and informative writing.
In 6th grade we will also focus on different parts of grammar and word structure. Using “Words In Context” 6th graders will learn and memorize many root words that are seen frequently in everyday life.
Students will also be expected to have their independent reading book, or “reader’s choice” book, every day in class. I will be checking in students’ progress every Friday—More info below!

7th Grade Language Arts:
This year in Language Arts we are going to dive into World Literature! We will be reading two novels, a play, and a hand full of short stories. Throughout the year, we will also be focusing on analyzing literature through writing, debates and discussions, as well as creative and informative writing.
In 7th grade we will also focus on different genres and modes of writing and reading. Each unit will coincide with a writing project, varying from poems to argumentative writing all the while perfecting our writing within MLA formatting.

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
8th Grade Language Arts:
This year in Language Arts we are going to dive into the world of British Literature! We will be reading two novels, a play, as well as different short stories and non-fiction articles. Through each we will be focusing on analyzing literature through writing, debates, and discussions, as well as creative and informative writing.
In 8th grade we will also focus on different genres and modes of writing and reading, as well as grammar. Each unit will coincide with a writing project, varying from speeches to an informative research paper.
