Hello Crusader Community!

Welcome to St. Norbert, an outstanding home for your children!  At St. Norbert we value the whole family experience. St. Norbert is such a wonderful place because of your students, and your commitment to our school’s success and growth.  As the new principal at St. Norbert I expect to continue the traditions of faith, academic excellence, and social wellbeing!

My name is Jack Shepherd and I have the privilege of being the new principal here at St. Norbert, carrying on the outstanding traditions and accomplishments of this outstanding Catholic school community!  After spending  35 years in the public school system, and retiring in 2024, I still felt the passion of leading a school.  I always felt the one thing missing from my career was the ability to share my faith in God and Jesus!  The ability to join the Catholic School community was the perfect blend of joining my career and my faith!

At St. Norbert School, our preschool through eighth grade model promotes strong relationships between students, teachers, and parents.  Small class sizes allow for a nurturing environment in which every student is known and honored.  Students are inspired to become confident, independent, lifelong learners with the critical skills and Catholic values to reach their full potential.

St. Norbert's curriculum is designed to meet and exceed the Chicago Archdiocese Curriculum Standards for Education.  We strive to continuously evolve by exploring, adapting, and adopting innovations in curriculum design, teaching methodology and technology.  Our aim is to advance student learning by engaging each child with the most progressive educational tools and research-based instructional practices available.  

Our dedicated and experienced staff model a love of learning through ongoing professional development and a commitment to continuous improvement.  We go beyond the school walls with wide-ranging field trips and intellectual experiences to bring quality curricular and extracurricular activities to our students. 

St. Norbert School is blessed with an active and supportive parent community. Parent involvement in the school exemplifies a strong commitment to Catholic education and contributes to the success and excellence of our school. 

Finally, though we are located in Northbrook, St. Norbert School serves families from many surrounding communities including Northbrook, Deerfield, Lincolnshire, Wheeling, Highland Park, and Glenview.

As this year begins, I will look forward to getting to know your children, the dedicated staff here at St. Norbert, and the St. Norbert Community!
